This AGM is to take place at The Rag, St James' Square, London
The Meeting will once again take place in the Army and Navy Club (‘The Rag’), in central London. The Rag was founded in 1837 – which just coincides with The 1805 Club’s period of interest, 1714-1837.
For our AGM we effectively have an entire floor of the Rag, with two major rooms that include lovely naval paintings and models from the Rag’s collections of artwork.
The Library is our social venue for Welcome and Registration, with tea, coffee, and biscuits on arrival, and will later be our lunch venue. The Drawing Room is our business venue, for the AGM before lunch and for our Expert Lecture afterwards.
Our speaker will be CAPTAIN MICHAEL BARRITT MA FNI FRGS RN, formerly Hydrographer to the Navy. Michael is a long-standing member of The 1805 Club (since 2015) and author of ‘Nelson’s Pathfinders’. Very highly praised by our leading naval historians – Hattendorf, Knight, Lambert, and Woodman among others – this remarkable book tells the story of the daring scientific navigators whose literally vital work helped ensure British naval dominance in the conflict with Napoleon.
